MANAGER/COACH SELECTION

Coach Selection Process
Baseball Tee ball, Baseball, Softball
The following coach selection factors apply to each of the leagues of Littleton Youth Baseball (i.e., Tee ball and Rookie, Minor & Major Baseball and Softball). All decisions are determined by the Board of Directors.
All candidates must first complete the Volunteer Application form and CORI (Personal Criminal Record Request) form.  These forms will be considered by the Board of Directors as the entry point in this process. CORI checks will be coordinated/conducted by the Littleton Park and Rec. If approvals of the forms are granted, then the following factors will apply in the selection process:
Primary factors:
  • First preference will be given to a candidate who exhibits the spirit intended of LYB (as a rewarding, fun, learning experience for the youth of Littleton).
  • Preference will be given to a candidate if he/she has a child in the league to which he/she is applying for.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate with prior coaching experience, knowledge of the game, and teaching abilities.
Secondary factors: (It is recognized that the above Primary factors may not address all possible scenarios, the attached list shall be used to aid the selection process, should major conflicts arise).
  • Preference will be given to a candidate if he/she coached in the league during the last season.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate if he/she coached in the immediate lower league during the last season, without incident, and wishes to continue.
  • In the event of multiple candidates applying for positions that can't accommodate all, preference will be given based upon seniority level (i.e., number of years of coaching experience in the league, or comparable out-of-town league) of the candidate.
  • In some instances, candidates may have multiple children registered in various leagues. If this is the case, and a situation exists where multiple candidates have applied for a position that can't accommodate all, a fit in one of the other leagues will be attempted for that candidate.
  • In the event of multiple candidates applying for coaching positions that can't accommodate all, attempts will be made to offer an assistant coaching assignment, should that be acceptable, to the candidate involved.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate if she/he has experienced a level of success from a past coaching experience.

Manager request:

In the AAA and Majors division, no coach or player, other than a son or a daugther of a manager, can be pre-assigned to any team. On the Manager/Coach application, a canditate for these positions may make mention of their desire to coach with a particular coach(es).
