ASSESSMENT:

Assessment is used to rate players so that each level and each team has parity of talent. Players 9-12 are required to attend at least one assessment date. A rating scale of 1-5 will be used for 10-12 year olds; a scale of 1-3 will be used for 8 and 9 year olds. Players aged 7 do not attend assessment. Players aged 8 may, if they wish, attend but are not required.

What happens at try outs?

Players will be assessed in various baseball skills: batting, fielding both fly and ground balls, throwing and running. Evaluators will rate each player; scores will then be combined to reach an average score. Those scores will then be used to distribute talent across the teams in each division so parity is achieved.

What happens if it rains?

Two official dates have been identified: (insert dates) (rain out alternate date). We recommend you make every effort to attend the first tryout date as we cannot guarantee that a second one will not be rained out. Players who do not make any tryouts will not be considered for selection to the Majors.

What if a player cannot or does not want to tryout?

All players 9-12 are expected to attend at least one tryout. If a player cannot make a tryout, we ask that you send an with your explanation. Players who do not attend tryouts or provide a letter of explanation will not be considered for Travel Ball placement or post season play (All Stars). Also if there is an injury in the level above, player will not be eligible for selection to move up.

TEAM PLACEMENT:

Continuing in 2010, teams in all divisions will be formed by a Committee comprised of the VP, Player Agent, Director of Player Development and all Player Reps. Each division uses the following selection process for placing players on teams:

12	Majors or AAA	12 year olds will play Majors if skills warrant and they are drafted to a Majors team.	12 year olds may not request to play in AAA, however, they will play AAA if not drafted into Majors.
11	Majors or AAA	11 year olds will play Majors if skills warrant and they are drafted to a Majors team.	11 year olds may not request to play in AAA, however, they will play AAA if not drafted into Majors.
10	AAA or Majors	10 year olds will play AAA unless skills warrant that they be moved up to a Majors team.	10 year old players must attend tryouts, and will play AAA if not drafted to Majors.
9	Minor AA or AAA	All 9 year olds must tryout and might be drafted to AAA on a space available basis.	9 year olds will play AA if not drafted to AAA, or may play AA by special request of parents and approval of PA.
8	Minor A or AA	8 year olds play AA if they have had at least one year of A; 8 year olds may play AAA by special request & approval of PA and if space available.	8 year olds may play A by special request of parents and approval of PA, or if player has no playing experience.
7	Minor A	Not allowed	It is not recommended that 7 year olds play Rookie (T-Ball), however special request by parent will be considered.
6	Rookie or Minor A	May play A only if parent is coaching and if player has had one year of Rookie (T-Ball) experience or is in first grade.	N/A

5	Rookie	Not allowed.	N/A
